The Country Fire Authority is one of the world’s largest volunteer-based emergency services organisations.

The people apart of your local Fire Brigade attend hundreds of calls per year including but not limiting to:
- Bush / Grass and Scrub & Structure Fires
- Conducting fuel reduction burns
- Motor Vehicle Accidents / road accident rescues
- hazardous material incidents (HAZMAT)
- Miscellaneous emergencies including flood assistance
- other types of rescue (Paragliding , Cliff, Entrapment ect..)
As well as our Operational Firefighters we also have numerous Brigade support members. Mt Martha has a committed Brigade Support Team which conduct the following operations:
- Community education programs (Fire Safe Kids)
- Fundraising activities
- Hydrant Checks
- Multicultural liaison
- Brigade administration
- Social Committee
Mt Martha Fire Brigade also offers a CFA Junior Development Program. The Junior Volunteer Development Program (JVDP) provides safe, enjoyable and challenging activities for youth aged 11 to 15 years of age.

- Map reading and radio use
- First aid training
- Fundraising
- Fire safety awareness
- Community service
- Leadership development
- Fire brigade competitions and championships
